Official Statement Regarding the Friends of the Johnson Public Library
The Board of Trustees of the Johnson Public Library would like to thank the Friends of the Johnson Public Library, Inc (“Friends”) for its partnership over the years. We recognize the many hours of volunteer service and thousands of dollars in donations provided for wonderful programs such as museum passes and Haunted Library, just to name a few. This support has truly made a difference in our community.
The Friends have expressed a desire to move in a different direction and focus on being an independent organization, providing support to additional community organizations and not solely the Johnson Public Library.
We wish the Friends well in this new endeavor and in order to avoid any confusion by donors, are ending our relationship with the Friends of the Johnson Public Library, Inc. We look forward to their renaming and hearing about their future success in our community as a newly renamed entity. As per our Memorandum of Understanding with the Friends, the relationship will end in 60 days, on November 13, 2026.
Community support is a valuable component of any successful public library. Your support allows us to continue creating opportunities for learning, connection, discovery, and enrichment for everyone we serve. Members of the public who wish to support the Johnson Public Library are encouraged to do so directly, or through the Johnson Public Library Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) at www.johnsonlibraryfoundation.org
