Johnson Public Library is thrilled to announce the ribbon cutting of the new Oritani Teen & Community Center, marking a transformative milestone for the community. The event will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 4:00 PM.
This comprehensive lower level renovation is the library’s first major upgrade since the 1960s. For decades, the facility lacked the modern amenities and infrastructure necessary to provide 21st-century services and programs to residents, markedly our teen community members. The renovation has completely transformed the space, introducing state-of-the-art facilities that will better serve Hackensack's evolving needs.
"This renovation is a testament to our commitment to providing premier resources and services to our community," said Tara Marie Cooper. "The new Oritani Teen & Community Center will serve as a vibrant hub for learning, growth, and connection for residents of all ages."

The successful completion of this project would not have been possible without the generous and steadfast support of the Oritani Charitable Foundation. Their investment in this community asset demonstrates their dedication to improving the lives of residents and fostering community development.
The Oritani Teen & Community Center now features accessible meeting spaces, enhanced programming areas, and flexible facilities designed to meet the diverse needs of teens and community members. The space will host a wide array of educational programs, workshops, cultural events, and recreational activities.
Members of the public are invited to join the library board, community partners, and the Oritani Charitable Foundation for the ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 14 at 4:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served, and tours of the new space will be available.
