After a competitive public bidding process under the guidance of our Architect, Arcari and Iovino, the Johnson Public Library Board of Trustees voted on August 12th 2025 to move forward with a large-scale renovation of the Library’s lower level. This renovation is in line with the needs outlined in our strategic plan and will create, for the first time ever, a dedicated teen space. Additionally, the renovation will add THREE much-needed study rooms with connective technology as well as a 25 person meeting room. The community has been in need of private and collaborative spaces for many years, and this renovation will finally provide them. Most importantly, we will be able to offer teens the space that they need to help foster life-long learning outside of the classroom.
We anticipate that work on the lower level will begin in November and take approximately six months. During this time, the lower level will remain closed to the public with the exception of our small meeting room and lower level restrooms. Disruptions to the main floor and children’s room should be minimal and temporary, however, there will be periods of time when the entire building needs to be closed to ensure the safety of our staff as well as the public.
