First Thursday Gallery Reception: Los Amantes

Artist's statement: Impossibility, attachment, consummation, and desire haunt my mind while I am painting Los Amantes-The Lovers. The lovers who can’t love one another. The lovers who don’t want to possess. The lovers who wait. The lovers who let them go. The lovers who find a balance between oneself and the other. I have experienced them all, yet I found myself hopeless to portray the stillness of eternal love.

Los Amantes-The Lovers express my vain search. Faceless and nude, the bodies intertwine with one another. With gardenias and leaves that surround the nude shapes, I draw virtual paths of geometric shapes to rationally introduce symbols of eternity. Towards those bodies that dramatically grip one another, I intend desperately…
